Ranius orchid + genius

We already do this.

More than 1,000 children have enrolled in our own school in three years; 1,200 serving teachers have taken the training outside it. These are the numbers of NIJIN Inc., the parent company. Traction for Ranius itself starts with the December 2026 A/B.

WHERE WE STAND

What we can do, and what we are asking for.

Ranius is one of the education businesses of NIJIN Inc. The record below was built as NIJIN, and Ranius sits on top of it. This is not a start from zero.

WHAT WE CAN DO as NIJIN Inc.

  • Over 1,000 children enrolled In our own online school, in the three years since it opened. About 100 instructors, half of whom have never taught professionally. Developing teachers without a licence as the entry condition already runs here.
  • 1,200 serving teachers Teachers who paid for the training themselves. The one piece of evidence that this works outside our own walls.
  • ¥250M a year, profitable every month No equity raised since founding. The business runs without money having to be put in quickly.
  • Prime Minister's Award (2025) Also accepted into the AI course of GSAP, run by JETRO and the Cabinet Office, whose accelerator partner is StartX, founded at Stanford.

All of the above is NIJIN Inc.'s record. Numbers for Ranius itself start accumulating with the December 2026 A/B.

WHAT WE ARE ASKING FOR as Ranius

  • A research lead and an assessment specialist

Why They are the two people we most need in order to say out loud that an unlicensed teacher can teach just as well. Neither seat is filled.

  • Research partners at universities and institutes

Why Because we want the December 2026 A/B run in a form others can replicate, not judged from inside our own walls.

  • Engineering

Why Taking a lesson in and returning timestamped evidence is the current bottleneck. Speed there is what brings the cost of developing a teacher down.

  • A seed conversation

Why The money would go to the December A/B and to the US build. We are profitable every month, so there is no rush — read the deck first.

Full time, contract, or a few hours a week pro bono — any shape works.

We do not hide what is still unproven. Whether an unlicensed teacher can teach just as well, and whether the cost of developing one falls tenfold, is what the December 2026 A/B measures. How many teachers one mentor can carry is being measured now; nothing has been tested yet outside Japanese.

TRACTION

What this record is actually good for.

A list of numbers gets you "impressive" and nothing else. Here is what each one does for Ranius — and what it does not.

1,000+

children enrolled in three years (cumulative) / ~100 instructors

Developing teachers without a licence already runs, daily

Half of the roughly 100 instructors have never taught professionally. This is not a site built for research — parents pay monthly fees and leave their children there. The rubric and the coaching format have been corrected in use, here. The difference from a company designing this from scratch is that we have already made the mistakes.

1,200

serving teachers who paid for the training

Outside our walls, the training got a price

Not our own students — teachers working in schools, paying their own money. That means the market, not our friends, put a value on it. It is also the first pool we recruit from for the December A/B. Starting from zero would not have that opening speed.

¥250M

a year / profitable monthly, no equity raised

We do not have to hurry the conclusion

A non-inferiority trial has to wait until the result arrives. This is the balance sheet that lets us not rush a conclusion for this month's numbers. Whether an inconvenient result gets published as it is comes down, in the end, to this.

ZERO

traction as Ranius

Nothing is proven yet

All three above are evidence that a process for developing teachers can run — not that it can run cheaply. What it costs to develop one teacher has never been measured. The December 2026 A/B exists to measure exactly that.

What we hold is less a record than a place to try things. Children, teachers, lessons running every day. Not many companies can test a new process the week after they think of it.

Sources: cumulative enrolment at our own school since it opened three years ago / cumulative training enrolment. The figures of over 1,000, ~100, 1,200 and ¥250M are all NIJIN Inc.'s. Enrolment since opening and the number enrolled today are different quantities; the figure above is the first.

MARKET

Where these market numbers come from.

Large numbers on their own are not credible. For each of the three stages, here is what is sourced and what is our own estimate.

NOW from December 2026

4M learners

SOURCED Japan Foundation survey of Japanese-language education

  • Japanese-language education. 81,000 teachers; the US alone holds 134,000 learners.
  • We start here because demand is clear and outcomes are measurable — not because the market is big.
  • What opens in December is a small slice of even this stage.

NEXT from 2027

$228B

SOURCED K-12 online education market (33.1% annual growth)

  • Beyond one subject and one language: Spanish and English; maths, physics, computer science.
  • Whether we get in depends on whether the same process holds when the subject changes. Untested.
  • This is not a claim that we take the whole market.

EVENTUALLY from 2028

$145B / yr

ESTIMATE 44M × $3,300 (today's cost of developing one teacher)

  • The teacher-supply market itself. $3,300 is what it currently costs to develop one teacher, multiplied by the shortage. Nothing more sophisticated.
  • There is a contradiction here worth stating plainly: the number we are trying to bring down is that $3,300.
  • If the unit cost falls, this headline shrinks. But the number of teachers rises — and that, not the headline, is what we are going after.

All three stages are limited by the same thing — the cost of producing a teacher. As the payer moves from families to companies to governments, the unit price rises and what the child pays approaches zero. That is what sets the order.
